Meteora della settimana: THE VAPORS.

Una delle poche meteore (davvero poche) che si possono trovare nel panorama Punk/New Wave di fine anni 70. La loro storia dura tre soli anni, dal '79 all'81, il loro singolo più famoso, che spesso si sente qua e la anche in qualche film, dura anche meno.
Loro sono THE VAPORS, con la loro TURNING JAPANESE!



Scimmiottando gli usi e costumi orientali, pare che i Vapors volessero in realtà richiamarsi al tema della masturbazione e alle "espressioni facciali che si assumono in quel momento" (I'm TURNING Japanese). Dopo il 3° posto nella UK chart, in Italia la canzone è stata praticamente un fantasma. I "Vapors" erano: Howard Smith batteria ,Dave Fanton chitarrista e cantante , Edward Balzagette chitarrista , Steve Smith bassista.
Ma che fine hanno fatto?
Pare che Fenton sia diventato un avvocato "musicale", si occupa cioè delle questioni legali di cantanti e case discografiche, mentre Balzagette fa il regista di documentari per la BBC.
Pero', strano ma vero, anche loro hanno un sito internet.
