Meteora della settimana: INDUSTRY.

Questo mercoledì ci tuffiamo negli anni 80 più "anni 80" che potete immaginare... quelli dei capelli ricci tirati indietro, dei camicioni con il colletto rialzato e dei pantaloni con le bretelle. Si parla di quelle gran meteorone degli INDUSTRY. Di loro si ricorda solo il loro unico brano di successo, "State of the nation", di cui sotto il video.



Gli Industry nascono nel 1982 a New York come una band synth-pop, ad opera di Jon Carin (voce/synth/tastiere), Mercury Caronia (synth/percussioni), Rudy Perrone (basso/voce), e Brian Madden (chitarra/voce). Fra l'83 e l'84 esce quindi il loro unico album, "Stranger to stranger", trascinato dal successo mondiale di "State of the nation", appunto.
Canzone dal testo chiaramente e sinceramente antimilitarista (il video è girato su una nave da guerra) che si è "permesso" di sfondare anche nelle classifiche Asiatiche.

Che fine hanno fatto gli Industry? Dopo lo scioglimento, praticamente un anno dopo il successo mondiale, e nonostante l'aver fatto da spalla ai concerti di Billy Idol, INXS e tanti altri, i quattro prendono strade diverse. Jon Carin continua a scrivere musica e a collaborare addirittura con i Pink Floyd, The Who, Roger Waters; Madden ha formato nel 95 un gruppo folk, i MaddenRae; e Perrone si esibiva in vari locali.
